Adding a wood-burning stove to a fireplace allows you to warm the space efficiently while enjoying the fire. With so many different styles of wood-burning stoves available, you can definitely find one that fits your existing fireplace and your sense of style. Just think of the first cold day and how nice it will be to get the fire going during the evening.
While the design of the stove is very important so are the practical bits that go with it. Burning wood creates flammable gases and particulates that can be dangerous for your home and family. That is why it is critical that you have the stove installed properly by a Hetas registered engineer with the appropriate fittings.
One of those fittings is the stove register or closure plate. This is the plate that fits above the stove, blocking off the base of the chimney. It's made of a solid, non-combustible material so that sparks from the fire won't harm it. Its purpose is to seal the stove to the flue pipe without letting carbon monoxide escape into the room.
This plate works with either a 5" or 6" flue pipe. It also includes a hatch for flue cleaning and visual inspections. When ordering this flue, please specify whether you need a 5" or 6" flue opening.
